Why haven’t I realized the awesomeness of vague replies before? A lot of people often ask for things I have no interest in or care not to bother with and I blatantly just say no. Actually, sometimes I’m just tied up (or tired) and it’s just not possible. Rather than making excuses that are true, or say excuses the requester will probably not believe anyway, replying this way is much better. After some thought, I will make it a conscious effort to use vague replies.
For example, someone might ask me if I would like to go out and do something with them. I will then reply: “I don’t know… maybe, I will might be able to make it.” How about if someone asks am I coming in to work tomorrow, an acceptable reply would be: “Maybe, I might come in to work tomorrow.” How about if someone asks if you can come to work right now, a possible reply can be: “Maybe I might be able to come in after I finish what I’m doing.”
I’m pretty sure it has been done to me before, now it’s my turn!
